  • PHYSICS 120, 150, 220, 231, 251, 261, 270, 315, 325, 350, 355
  • and a selection from 326, 354, 390, 391 MATHS 150, 250, 253, 260, 361
  • and possibly 362 COMPSCI 101, 105.

Geophysics

  • PHYSICS 108, 120, 130, 150, 210, 211, 213, 220, 231, 240
  • GEOPHYS 330, 331
  • and a selection from PHYSICS 107, 270, 315, 325, 340, 390, 391
  • MATHS 108 or 150, 162, 208 or 250
  • and possibly 361, 362 STATS 107 or 110,
  • COMPSCI 101, 105.

Optoelectronics

  • CHEM 120 (or similar),
  • PHYSICS 120, 130, 150, 211, 220, 240, 243, 251, 261, 325, 326, 340, 390 or equivalent
  • MATHS 150, 162, 250
  • COMPSCI 101.

Students interested in optoelectronics should consider enrolling in the four-year Bachelor of Technology (BTech) Optoelectronics specialisation.

Electronics and Computing

  • PHYSICS 120, 150, 211, 240, 243, 251, 340, 390, 391
  • COMPSCI 101, 105, 210, 230, 313 (or similar)
  • INFOSYS 224, 329
  • MATHS 108 or 150, 208 or 250.

Teaching careers

Students planning to teach science at secondary school level should include a component of physics. If you are interested in physics teaching, the following combination, with mathematics as a secondary subject, is recommended:

  • PHYSICS 107, 120, 150, 211, 213, 220, 231, 240, 251, 325, 340, (or 350), 390 or equivalent
  • MATHS 108 or 150, 162, 208 or 250, 253, 260
  • STATS 101 or 125
  • COMPSCI 101, 105.

An alternative is to take a wider selection of courses including chemistry, biology and geology.
