Department of Physics
Life at the Department of Physics
We offer students a wide range of activities and entertainment both inside and outside the classroom.
Undergraduate students in physics have easy access to their lecturers and course supervisors, tutors and a science librarian. Staff are available for lecture follow up visits and for personal, subject and assignment counselling.
Our department is located adjacent to the centre of campus social life: The Quad. A short walk away is the student cafe and food court where undergraduates can buy freshly prepared meals. In The Quad there is an outdoor area for bands and for speakers to address the student body. Located on the top floors of the science centre, physics is in one building with all teaching, research, tutorial, seminar and academic resources in one place, which makes it a very convenient and pleasant place for undergraduates wanting to take full advantage of their time at The University of Auckland.
Staff and student representative committees meet to resolve matters of concern to undergraduates. A large, walk in physics tutorial assistance room is located in the basement and staffed by young physicists and postgraduate volunteers which is helpful if you need group tutorial assistance.
