Department of Physics
The Department of Physics is the largest physics department in New Zealand.
We offer courses at all levels from a Bachelor of Science to a PhD and the new Master of Energy. The department also services the requirements of a wide variety of other disciplines - engineering, computer science, architecture, medicine, surveying and pharmacy.
The interfaculty Bachelor of Technology in Optoelectronics degree provides a vocationally-oriented specialisation in this fast-developing area. The Bachelor of Technology in Medical Physics and Imaging Technology will prepare students for careers in medical imaging and its applications.
A warm welcome from the Head of Department, Professor Richard Easther.
Where to find us.
Our staff are researching a wide variety of physics topics, from quantum optics, climate modelling and experimental high energy nuclear physics to theoretical astrophysics, fluorescence imaging and gravitational microlensing.
